Dental Restoration in Brampton, ON
Dental restoration refers to the practice of dentistry to restore missing, loose, or decayed elements of a patient’s teeth to bring their smile back to its former health. While the term covers a broad range of procedures, restoration procedures can be understood in two main types:
Types of Dental Restorations
Indirect Dental Restoration -refers to the restoration of a tooth by use of an inlay, crown, or onlay. These restorations are named indirect, because they require more than one visit to complete, often with the use of a dental lab. If the dentist has use of CAD or CEREC equipment, the procedure can be completed in one visit.
Direct Dental Restoration – refers to the restoration of a tooth immediately after performing dental work. Often used to fill a cavity, the dentist will use a dental filling to insert a malleable material into the tooth, harden the material with the use of blue light, and then shape and polish that material to match the rest of the teeth.
Other Types of Dental Restoration
Dental Implant Restoration – Often restorations can apply to a previously completed implant. Dentists can restore the crown or prosthesis if there is an appropriate diagnosis. Since dental implants are so crucial to their patient’s lives, it can be important to restore them for the patient to perform normal daily functions.
